All you need to know about abstract paintings
When it comes to abstract paintings, the term beauty is in the eye of the beholder cannot be further away from the truth. Sometimes, I feel that art is more or less like people, if you know what I mean. Some people are attracted to one individual and not another, the same concept can be said with arts. If you have seen any abstract paintings before, you will certainly know what I mean. Some people are able to look at abstract paintings for hours, praising its beauty and studying the intricacies of every stroke of the brush but others will just look at them for a couple of minutes and walk away.
The history of abstract paintings can be traced back to the 19th century when the impressionists began displaying their work. However, their works caused a huge uproar because they were radically different from what was defined as "art" back then in the 19th century. But eventually, abstract artists like Van Gogh, Monet, Degas and Gauguin changed the world's perception of art and today, their paintings sell for an insane amount of money.
Salvador Deli and Picasso are probably two of the most influential artists in abstract paintings. Picasso is famous for his rearrangements of body parts and upside down faces while Salvador is a master of surrealism. It is an undeniable fact that their works inspired a new generation of painters.
I believe that the key to abstract paintings lies in its creativity and open end interpretation. If you have been to any art galleries, I would assume that you would have seen some abstract paintings before. Some abstract paintings might have an interesting design or arrangement but others might do nothing for you mentally or visually. But all abstract paintings will certainly challenge your eyes and imagination, to a certain extent.
However, if you could truly understand the spectrum of styles, palettes and composition available in abstract paintings, you will begin to appreciate this form of art work. Or you might even decide to take a class on art appreciation to try your own hand at this form of expression. Always remember one thing, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
